Calamity’s End of World Playlist

Written by on June 15, 2022

It’s the end of the world as we know it…do you feel fine?

With our final episode of Exandria Unlimited: Calamity airing tomorrow (6/16) at 7pm Pacific on Twitch and Youtube, we asked our Calamity Cast to make a playlist of their “End of the World” jams! These songs were hand chosen by our players (and game master) as songs they would listen to as they raced towards the sunset!

Our playlists are curated carefully by the cast and can be found on Spotify via the official Critical Role profile or you can listen to the playlist embedded below.

The Songs:

Brennan Lee Mulligan

  • It’s The End Of The World As We Know It – R.E.M.
  • Come On Up To The House – Sarah Jarosz
  • The Parting Glass – Hoizer
  • I Don’t Want To Go – Ike Shaw.

Aabria Iyengar

  • My Way – 2008 Remastered – Frank Sinatra
    • Explanation: A little on the nose, but at the end of the day you have to own the choices you’ve made and hope that what you’ve done makes you proud and leaves things a little better than you found them.
  • My Way – Usher
    • Explanation: A bop. Gotta groove into the sunset.
  • Nessun Dorma – Luciano Pavarotti
    • Explanation: “At dawn, I will win!” are some of the last lines, so something something rage against the dying of the light.

Luis Carazo

  • Ilusión (Unplugged) (En Vivo) – Julieta Venegas & Marisa Monte
    • Explanation: I totally romanticize my “exit” as quiet and intimate (even in a “Calamity”) so the music I would listen to would reflect that.
  • The Trapeze Swinger – Iron and Wine
    • Explanation: It’s the song I got married to (odd choice for a wedding song some might think haha…)
  • HOME – BAYWUD
    • Explanation: One of my favorite songs my partner has put out so far

Lou Wilson

  • Never Too Much – Luther Vandross
    • Explanation: No song has the ability to elevate a space like this one. Impending death has never been so fucking groovy.
  • Coda – Lou
    • Explanation:Not only is this song incredibly on theme, but helps secure the legacy.
  • In A Sentimental Mood – John Coltrane & Duke Ellington
    • Explanation: Gotta include one song that gives you permission to be sad. Great for reflection on the adventure so far, and the shape of whatever adventure is to come.

Marisha Ray

  • I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire – The Ink Spots
  • Praise You – Fatboy Slim
  • The End – The Doors
  • Paint It, Black – Ciara

Sam Riegel

  • Suo Gân – John Williams
  • One Sweet Day – Boyz II Men & Mariah Carey
  • Space Oddity – David Bowie

Travis Willingham

  • Runnin’ with the Devil – Van Halen
  • I Am A God – Kanye West
  • Top Gun Anthem – Harold Faltermeyer, Steve Stevens
