We are back with more Q&A Interviews for Exandria Unlimited: Calamity!

With so many new storytellers in this special mini-series, we thought it would be fun to share a little more about our Calamity Cast with a Q&A! HOWEVER, to make it a little more spicy, we made our Q&A “End of the World” themed to match the Calamity vibe.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your character in Exandria Unlimited: Calamity.

Hey hey! I was born in Cartagena Colombia, my immediate family is Colombian and Mexican, but we have familial ties in other parts of Latin America. I came to the US when I was about 3 years old. I am the third of four brothers, and my family is very close. I grew up dancing salsa and merengue, and am a pretty darn good line dancer and two stepper. I love the mountains and the ocean equally, and I am a Capricorn sun with a Scorpio moon which usually gets a reaction from people when I tell them and I still don’t quite know why. My favorite food is round (cookies, pizza, burgers), but I would eat sushi everyday if I could. I have a tendency to run red lights without knowing it (my poor guardian angel works overtime), as a kid I used to sleep walk and I was terrified of being abducted by aliens which I have learned is not an uncommon fear in kids (as an adult I would be super down for a joyride with aliens).

My character in ExU Calamity is Zerxus Ilerez, a human oath of redemption paladin who is the First Knight of Avalir. The First Knight is a title given to a legendary hero of the city who is tasked with slaying monstrous threats and defending the city. He is not a native of the wondrous flying city of Avalir, but rather he is from a terrestrial town near Cathmoira. Almost 7 years prior to the beginning of our tale, he met the love of his life, a half elf man named Evandrin, who arrived in Cathmoira with an infant son named Elias. The two men were meant to raise the boy together, but an unknown illness took Evandrin’s life too soon, a loss that has weighed heavily on Zerxus. That loss coupled with the extremely isolated life of The First Knight has resulted in an often stoic and serious Zerxus, who’s demeanor is most often softened by the humor of his long time friend Nydas (played by Lou Wilson).

Let’s imagine that some sort of unavoidable disaster is on the brink, you’ve found some sort of way to accept it and start planning for the absolute best event of your life. What would you do and who would accompany you?

In all honesty I would just want to be with my partner and family, and eat A LOT of food and recount all the reasons the life we had together was worth every moment. Then just be next to each other as whatever was coming for us arrives. Very “Don’t Look Up.”

In your opinion, what is the most iconic fictional death in popular media?

For some reason Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web was the first that came to mind…followed by Mufasa.

Do you have a bucket list? If so, tell us all about it.

YES! It all has to do with travel and adventure. Safaris, Greek Islands, The Northern Lights, and I have never been scuba diving so that’s definitely on there. I want to a road trip across the US as well. See as much of the world as I can.

What do you want people to remember you for?

My beard! Obviously kidding…I just want to be able to know that I made life better for someone I loved. I want the people closest to me to remember me as someone who (hopefully) lived a life that provided that to at least a few people.
