With so many new storytellers in this special mini-series, we thought it would be fun to share a little more about our Calamity Cast with a Q&A! HOWEVER, to make it a little more spicy, we made our Q&A “End of the World” themed to match the Calamity vibe.

It’s now time to hear from our very own Sam Riegel!

Tell us a little bit about you and your character in Exandria Unlimited: Calamity.

Loquatius Seelie is the face of Avalir. A changeling media mogul who reports “all the news that shapes a citizen’s views!” He is known by all, beloved by many, and can influence public opinion more reliably than any other figure in the city. Loquatius, or “Quay” as he is known to close friends, has most folks wrapped around his elegant finger. Except, of course, his ex-wife Laerryn – with whom he shares unending animosity.

Let’s imagine that some sort of unavoidable disaster is on the brink, you’ve found some sort of way to accept it and start planning for the absolute best event of your life. What would you do and who would accompany you?

What a “fun” question! Beach day with the family – wife and kids – sounds pretty great. Splashing in the waves, enjoying a picnic with nice wine, making sand castles before the end of days. Maybe we’ll end the evening with a dog walk and a board game… and tonight the kids can skip brushing their teeth.

In your opinion, what is the most iconic fictional death in popular media?

Ned Stark’s death in GoT completely shocked me, having never read the books. But the one that made me cry most was when Algernon the mouse died in the book Flowers for Algernon.

Do you have a bucket list? If so, tell us all about it.

If I had a list, most of the items on it are mostly checked off. I’ve traveled, sky-dived, met a King, met a Pope, met a President or two, married the love of my life. Most of my bucket list items now are things I’m excited to show my kids. Would love to take them to Egypt, show them Japan, go on safari in South Africa – you know, the usual stuff. Oh, also, I’d love to own a hammock.

What do you want people to remember you for?

Jesus this interview is gonna give me nightmares. I’d like to be remembered for sharing love, being a loyal friend, and helping those who are less fortunate than I am. But mostly, I’d like to be remembered for making people laugh.
