Summer Programming Schedule

Written by on June 26, 2019

Summer, summer, summer time! Time to sit back, unwind, and enjoy the fruits of our Critical Role Land labor.

Read below, dear Critters, for a quick update on our summer programming schedule, including details on a brief hiatus in the beginning of July and important updates about Handbooker Helper, MAME Drop, Travis Willingham’s Yee-Haw Game Ranch, a special cosmic horror one-shot led by our own Taliesin Jaffe, and (of course) the eagerly-anticipated return of Between the Sheets.

We’re taking the week of July 1st off from our live programming schedule. This means that there will not be an episode of Talks Machina on Tuesday, July 2nd and there will not be an episode of Critical Role on Thursday, July 4th. We’ll return to our regularly scheduled programs on July 9th at 4pm Pacific with Travis Willingham’s Yee-Haw Game Ranch followed by Talks Machina at 7. We hope to see you there!

Over the past year, we’ve learned all about the basics of D&D together — from ability scores to death saves, multiclassing to quick builds, spellcasting to melee weapons, and much, much more. Yet, all good things must come to an end, so we’re sunsetting Handbooker Helper to make room for a brand new show that we think you’ll enjoy quite a bit. We’ll share more about our new show later this year (epic thanks for your patience!).

Here’s a handy playlist for the entire Handbooker Helper series, in case you missed an episode or need a quick refresher.

MAME Drop, our retro arcade show hosted by goth dad Taliesin Jaffe, is also going on hiatus. Over the past few months, we’ve played sports games with Travis Willingham, super metal (\m/) games with our pal Whitney Moore, mech games with our favorite Pony Master, Mark Hulmes, and many more. We don’t have a return date for MAME Drop quite yet, but keep an eye out right here on for updates!

Travis Willingham’s Yee-Haw Game Ranch will have a brief hiatus, but will return on Tuesday, July 9th. Per usual, we will continue to air every other week in August (and beyond)!

So giddy up, partners — we have much more weird lore, crunchy cheese snacks™ and fresh video games to share with you in the months ahead.

On Monday, July 29th, our very own Taliesin Jaffe is stepping behind the screen once again as the Keeper of Arcane Lore for a special Call of Cthulhu one-shot, sponsored by our friends at Chaosium. Investigators Travis Willingham, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Ashly Burch, Phil Lamarr, and Erika Ishii will attempt to survive Taliesin’s harrowing scenario, which is set in a decadent 1890s London. We’re incredibly excited to explore this classic RPG of cosmic horror through a fresh lens.

VOD will be available immediately for our Twitch channel subscribers and will be available on our YouTube channel on Wednesday, July 31st

Brian W. Foster’s one-on-one interview show will return on Monday, August 5 at 7pm Pacific on our Twitch channel with the one-and-only Amanda Palmer. Amanda is an accomplished musician, songwriter, author, and half of the legendary Dresden Dolls.

VOD will be available immediately for our Twitch channel subscribers and will make its way to our YouTube channel on Wednesday, August 7th.

As a reminder, the third season of Between the Sheets will air monthly instead of weekly. We can’t wait to share a whole new batch of stories behind the world’s greatest storytellers with you!

We’ll share more show updates as soon as they’re available — including air dates for our various one-shots made possible by your amazing generosity during our The Legend of Vox Machina Kickstarter campaign and… some other special new and returning things we can’t talk about quite yet. Keep an eye on and our Facebook and Twitter accounts for breaking updates.

And, as always, thank you for your kindness and support!
